WPF Development

Software applications in financial services must cope with and respond to vast volumes of data and complex business events. Current financial user interfaces, such as trade blotters and pricing screens, tend to pack their windows with dense, inflexible grids of numbers with little enrichment or visualization. They present data, not information.

The Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), a cornerstone of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, lowers the barrier of entry for rich, attractive, visual, and interactive graphical user interfaces and harnesses the full power of today's graphics hardware to provide a fast and responsive visualization of data.

Building on our long and industry-leading expertise in building advanced user interfaces for financial services with Windows Forms and Java Swing, Lab49 is leveraging Windows Presentation Foundation to bring our financial clients a richer, more sophisticated user experience than could be previously achieved with Windows Forms and to do so with a faster time to market and a lower total cost of ownership. With Windows Presentation Foundation, it is simpler and more cost-effective to create user interfaces that are flexible, configurable, responsive, and visual. Furthermore, its deep integration with other elements of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, such as the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and the Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF), allows applications to be richly connected to changing data and sensitive business processes.

WPF Benefits

The incorporation of Windows Presentation Foundation into Lab49's long-standing expertise in graphical user interfaces for financial services offers users and organization several features and benefits:

Separation   Creates a clear separation of interface logic from interface appearance.
Faster and Cheaper   Supports faster and more cost-effective development of animations and data visualizations that aid in data-mining and complex event recognition.
Customization   Simplifies modification and customization of appearance.
Scalable   Enables scalable user interfaces that look great on any screen size.
Simple Deployment   Easy to deploy and run rich client applications from a web browser.

Lab49 Develops Brand New User Interface for Linedata Service' LongView Live Using WPF

LineData LongView Live Wins Microsoft Innovation Award for Order Management

Lab49 Linedata Longview WPF User InterfaceLab49 worked with Linedata Services to develop LongView Live, the next-generation of Linedata's powerful, global, multi-asset class order management system. Longview Live utilizes WPF as the foundation for the platform, to create a graphics-intensive, highly intuitive user interface presenting users with a radically new way to access the market with an emphasis on data visualization.

From the press release:

“By utilizing Microsoft’s Windows Presentation Foundation, incorporating three-dimensional graphics, live charts, transparency, and animation, we have created novel visualizations for complex, real-time data feeds, enabling rich user interaction,” said Daniel Chait, co-founder and managing director, Lab49. ”LongView Live will provide users with a smooth and scalable platform that presents data, not just information.”

“Linedata Services and Lab49 have applied Microsoft’s Windows Presentation Foundation technology to create an interface that is truly innovative and uniquely user-centric for the order-management space,” said Stevan Vidich, U.S. capital markets industry technology strategist, Microsoft Corp. “This approach changes the order management system user-interface from something that looks like the control board for a factory into an easy-to-read visual interface reminiscent of a cockpit for a fighter jet.”
